FAQs

Before your session

Very easily. Head over to the Prices/Book page and select either an outdoor or studio shoot. Select a date and time that I’m available and go through simple process of booking your session online in a few minutes.

Yes, I do. I charge a £50 deposit payable at the time of booking a session. This deposit is non-refundable so you will not receive it back if you decide to cancel your session.

I totally understand if you need to reschedule your session to attend a casting or if you’re feeling unwell, but please make sure that this is done no later than 2 days before it’s due to start to give me enough time to find an alternative arrangement.

The balance of your session is due at the end of the day on the day after your session. An invoice will be sent to you which you can pay using securely using a credit or debit card.

My home studio is in Stoke Newington, north London, N16.

I photograph outdoors in the Barbican area of the City of London, EC1

Yes, I do, for no extra charge.

Once your session is confirmed, I will email you details of how to download my fully comprehensive 40 page PDF guide which you can save to your smartphone. In it, you’ll find out everything you need to know including:

  • Where you need to go & how to get there
  • Maps
  • What tops to bring
  • Advice about hair & makeup
  • How your online gallery works
  • Retouching & enhancing your images
  • Payment

Coronavirus

Being an APHP member, I abide by APHP’s strict Covid 19 guidelines. You can find them here. These include when photographing in my studio:

  • Having hand sanitiser available
  • Use of your own clean towel
  • Having windows open for air circulation
  • Studio will be deep cleaned prior to you coming
  • Maintaining a social distance

Shooting outdoors greatly reduces the risk of transmission. I shoot with a long lens so maintain a safe distance throughout. I’m more than happy to wear a mask for the entirety of your session, upon request. This includes when I’m taking photos. Don’t worry, you’ll still be able to understand me!

On the day

Your hair should be as natural as possible. Needless to say, you’ll need to turn up at a casting looking like your photo so there is little point in having a hair stylist on the day of your session (unless you have access to one day-to-day that is). Bear in mind also that you may need to travel to a casting at the last minute on public transport so your hair probably wouldn’t look immaculate. This means that your hair on the day of your session doesn’t need to look too neat and tidy though it shouldn’t look like a birds nest either.  I will of course guide you during your session If I see a hair out of place or if something doesn’t quite look right through the lens.

If your hair is long then we can experiment to get different looks so do bring hair bands or anything else you need.

I wouldn’t get your haircut on the day of your session. You’ll need to feel comfortable so I would recommend getting a haircut a week before your session so you get used to it.

Again, you’ll want to look as natural as possible so I would wear/bring whatever you’d wear from day-to-day. During the session you can always build up your makeup to get variety in the images.

I would recommend bringing a selection with a variety of necklines. Bring v-neck, round neck, collared tops. If you’d like some corporate shots taken then bring a suit jacket, shirt and tie. Darker colours tend to come out better so make sure you bring at least a couple of black tops. Avoid tops with patterns such as stripes and also tops with logos though these can always be Photoshoped out if the worst comes to the worst.

Depends on the casting, but imagine what you might wear to a casting and bring that.

I use locations that are off the beaten track where there are plenty of pillars and alleyways where you can quickly change tops. My advice would be to wear a plain t-shirt as a base layer and put layers to be photographed in on top.

Absolutely. In the studio this is very straightforward.

A little organisation on your part is required but it is possible whilst out on location. Bring an electric shaver and you can use a public toilet located at the Barbican Centre in the area where the shoot takes place

Yes. Parking is available close to the studio. Details of where will be included in your comprehensive PDF guide which I email to you once session has been confirmed.

Parking for an outdoor shoot is available close to Barbican Station in an NCP car park though it’s in the 7-day-a-week Congestion Zone. Specific details will be included in the comprehensive PDF guide.

Unless you are a child under the age of 16 needing a chaperone, I always find that bringing someone along with you can act as a distraction. It’s far better if I have 110% of your attention and this is done better if you come alone.

For sure! Spots can be zapped away very easily in a nanosecond with Photoshop as well as stray hairs, shaving cuts and small dry areas of skin. I can also brighten up your eyes a little to make them pop!

Do remember that you MUST turn up at your audition looking like your headshot so any retouching and enhancing I do will always be subtle.

I shoot in outdoor locations that are covered so it’s no problem at all if it is raining on the day of your session. We will need to walk between these locations so do bring an umbrella in case rain is forecast.

After your session

The same day. I will send you your password protected online gallery of images a few hours after your session finishes.

Absolutely. You can share your online gallery with whoever you like. The gallery will be password protected and whoever you send your gallery to can create a favourites list of their own.

I will create your online gallery of all your images from the session but these are for viewing only. You’ll not be able to download them.

I am a small business so I would appreciate if you could choose images as soon as possible. 1-2 weeks is the average time people take.

Payment for the balance of your session plus any additional images can be paid for by Stripe, an online payment processing service. It’s safe and secure and you can use by a credit or debit card. I also accept an online bank transfer or cash on the day.

I’m afraid not. The copyright will always remain with me. Should you want to use your images for purposes other than for casting then you must get in touch with me in writing by sending me a message on my contact page with details of how you’d like to use them

Yes, I will. I safely archive your images forever so whenever you’d like to order additional images from your shoot then do get in touch with me. Of course, it would be better to book another session instead but then again, I am biased!Â
